Day
Two – Monday Sept. 21, 2015:
Although I was still quite
tired from yesterday’s travels, I got up anyway in time to have the breakfast
that is offered daily to the hotel’s guests.
This is something new that the hotel started to offer a few years ago
(when it opened under a new name) – probably to attract more guests. Breakfast is a part of every guest’s hotel
package and it’s very nice. So, at 8:45
am, I went for pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage and orange juice in the breakfast
room next to the lobby. After that, I
planned to start work on my new audio book based on my second book called “My
Short Stories (Book Two)”.
It isn’t easy to record
your own voice, but I had all the equipment I needed: a digital voice recorder, an instruction
sheet, a recording sheet for errors, ear phones so that I could hear how my
voice would sound on replay, a pen, and a good light at my desk so that I could
clearly see and read the text. The
digital voice recorder and instruction and recording sheets were supplied to me
by Authorhouse for my audio book.
I finally quit my
recording work in the early afternoon and got into my bathing suit to go for a
swim and a hot tub in the nearby pool and hot tub, which were located very
close to my room. It was around 2:00 pm. Actually, this was the first time I’d wanted
to go for a swim and hot tub in this hotel, probably because I had the pool
area to myself and it was really lovely just having some privacy and a chance
to relax.
After my swim, I came
back, dried off and got dressed. Then, I
lay down, relaxed on my bed, and watched “Law and Order (Season One, Disk
One)”. This series, which is seventeen seasons
long, is and always has been one of my favourite DVD series. After all, that’s why I bring my computer and
speakers and mouse and mouse pad with me – so that I can use my computer as a
multi-media centre. I don’t watch TV
much, as a rule. There is also free Wi-Fi
in the hotel, as part of each guest’s hotel package.
Later on, I went over
to the Station Mall across the street and ordered two prescriptions from the Station
Mall Drug Mart, which I could pick up tomorrow.
The pharmacy assistant would have to phone my local pharmacy (at
Shoppers Drug Mart in Ajax) in order to get confirmation that the particular
prescriptions I needed were on file there and then they could fill them here in
SSM for me.
For dinner, I picked up
two pieces of big-slice pizza at the mall, walked to the boardwalk at the far
side of the mall, and ate my pizza there by the river. I stayed until about 4:30 or 5:00 pm watching
the water and the ships and boats and thanking God that I was here again in “My
Heavenly Place”, as I always liked to refer to SSM in this location.
After dinner, I walked
back to my hotel room, tired, and watched “Private Practice (Season Four, Disk
One)”. This would be my second time
watching Disk One of this particular DVD series.
I decided that I would
continue with work on my audio book (at Chapter 12) tomorrow. It’s a lot of work trying to make it sound
smooth, without interruptions or mistakes.
I made a lot of mistakes today, but I carefully noted each one on the
recording sheet. Each time you finish a
chapter or a section (like a paragraph), you can click the “off” button, which
creates a file of the work you’ve done, otherwise, you click the “pause” button
until you finished a chapter or section.
Later tonight, I also
watched “Private Practice (Season Four, Disk Two)” before settling down for the
night. I will also go for another swim
and hot tub tomorrow afternoon. It helps
me unwind after working.
